Magnetic Tomography of Epirus

Βασίλειο Παπακώστα, Ιατρός ΑκτινοδιαγνώστηςMAGNITIKI TOMOGRAFIA OF EPIRUS is the first ( and still the only one )  private diagnostic Laboratory of Epirus dedicated  exclusively to Imaging by Magnetic Resonance,   was established by Dr. Vasileios Papakostas, Radiologist, on August 2003.

Vasileios Papakostas received  his Medical Degree from the Medical School of Thessaloniki  on 1982 and completed  his specialty in Radiology in the same city,  on 1988.

His further training in MRI( Neuroradiology) was on 1990-91 ( NYU) at the University Hospital of New York , then at the Athens  General State Hospital (1995) in Body and CNS applications of MRI , both supported by  the  Greek Ministry of Health.

He had also  a special training in  functional MRI at the University of Zurich on 2000 , after  scholarship of IKY ( State Institute of Scholarships).

MAGNITIKI TOMOGRAFIA OF EPIRUS since 2003, has performed  more than 40,000 examinations, which are accessible in digital archive ( PACS) . Many of these were  difficult cases, and our diagnoses were strongly influenced the therapeutic decisions. We have published them in  Medical Journals and are used in Sites of the Radiologic interest. ( e.g. https://medpix.nlm.nih.gov/)

He worked as radiologist at the Hospitals PAPANIKOLAOU of Thessaloniki, HATZIKOSTA and UNIVERSITY Hospitals  of Ioannina, reaching the rank of Deputy Director.

In 2003, recognizing the great impact  of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Medicine, he decided to establish the MAGNITIKI TOMOGRAFIA OF EPIRUS,  as a combination of  his scientific and research interests with the demands of the local society. It has to be mentioned that in 2003, many patients from Ioannina had to be moved to Macedonia or to  Peloponnese to perform a Magnetic Tomography examination.

Since  15 years, we have followed the "HIPPOCRATIC" way in our medical activity, trying to "be as useful as possible or at least not to make it worse",  concentrating  in  the right diagnosis ( which in our days is increasingly supported by MRI)  has a serious biological and  socioeconomic impact of the disease  in modern societies.

We follow the medical events of Epirus with continuous training, postgraduate training and briefing of all our executives. Our doctors  try to be as "up to date" as possible following the School o MRI seminars and lectures, Radiolgical  societies congress
